Exclamation Another DC area Rennlist Drive - Testing waters...

Ok everyone, the recent rennlist drive in MD was a blast!!! Thanks so much Mark! Didnt get to post my pictures of the drive yet but i will!

Anyways, as we briefly touched while out there, i know of some amazing roads in the frederick area. The starting point would be about 40 minutes north of Washington, D.C. It would be a very scenic, and decently long drive. (adjustable) I know the roads pretty well, so i can set up something bery cool. I want to know how many people would be interested?

Basically im thinking Mid May. (after my first concours...cause before then im too busy preparing...) It would also be an early sunday morning. So what ya'll think?

Oh by the way, the drive would go something like this...

Cool open roads leading into an awesome multi-lane forest drive! Nice sweepers and cool corners! Then goes to cool 2 lane semi-wooded area with more fun driving. Third section is totally cool rolling hills, very scenic with a lot of viewing area. A few cool straights too. (with no turnoffs or cop hiding spots or houses) This leads back to some wooded areas and eventually brings us back around. Very scenic. We can make the actual driving between 1 hour and 2 hours if we want. There's plenty of road, and it never gets boring out there.

The roads are very quiet and have very little if any traffic. There is not much residential stuff either. Honestly, i think these roads were just laid for the sports car owners out there.

I would be able to go any Sunday in May aside from the last (and it sounds like a blast!)

Tony,

Thanks for organizing this!

May is a possibility for me but I may have a DE at Summit on the weekend of May 22nd. Also, since I'm getting Motons and monoballs put on, my car may not be seeing too much street duty, especially if the ride is punishingly hard.

Tony,

Ya beat me to it! I'm all for it and will be there. You just tell me the date and time!

Guys, I'm hoping to have a few gatherings and fun runs this summer. Would anyone be interested in a monthly meeting? If there are enough interested NoVA/DC/MD members, I'd even love to make it more often than that at some NoVA location.

[EDIT:] Who is planning on heading up to the 944Fest and would be interested in a caravan? I'm hoping to head up there myself and would love to drive up there with a fleet of water-cooled's

Tony... have you posted in the other forums? I'd be happy to cross post the word in other places to get as many Porsche-loving members out there as possible!

How much is the entrance fee, Mark? Also, what is required to drive?

Kevin,

Try going to Potomac PCA. I think it's $275 to $300 for two days; sorry, can't recall.

Your car has to be tech inspected for safety (brake pads, tires, no massive oil leaks etc) and you need a Snell SA 2000 (is this year correct? Anyone?) helmet. There's more to it than this but I have to run to a meeting. You can PM me your email address so I can give you my number and talk about things in more detail. If you want. If not, try checking the archives, esp the Racing and DE forum.

Tracking is a blast! It's almost as good as sex.

Kevin, the Summit Point DE is May 22-23, the cost is $180 for students, and registration is now open.

Can you post a link or more info on the 944Fest?

$180 isn't too bad. If I get a helmet this summer, I might be headed up there sometime, though late May might be a bit early.

Here's the info on the 944Fest: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...hlight=944Fest

If it's ok with you, I'm going to add you to my list of locals in the area... I'm keepig tabs on locals for when I start to organize meets.

Mark, PMing you now....
