Default Looking for Suncreen for Rear Hatch

Help,

I use my 951 as a daily driver in the summer and the rear hatch glass causes severe heat buildup, I am looking for a sunscreen method , does anyone know of any aftermarket product. Perhaps something like the BMW or Mercedes sunscreen material in their rear hatch window. Looking for any ideas.

Best Wishes

What about taking a factory rear luggage cover, and changing the material to that silver-ized reflective stuff that is used on windsheild sun shades? You could use that cover during the warm months while you are parked at work, and change back to the black one during the winter.

I have a spare luggage cover assembly I could donate to you. You would need to order the two little end cap pieces (that are still available from the dealer and are cheap).

I was just in Columbus on Saturday dropping off some springs and a wheel to fellow rennlisters. I could have dropped that off too, sorry for the bad timing..................

Most effective would be to reflect / block the light outside the car.
The heat is formed with the light passing through the glas.
You may want to try with just dropping a blanket over the hatch.
Depending on the outcome you may fabricate a kind of removable cover in a later stage.
For my '79 Scirocco (still loved but long gone) I had alu louvers inside, clipped to the hatch. That worked a bit but not realy satisfactory.
It finally became a habbit of leaving the roof open while parked in front of the office.

Why not have the hatch glass tinted, along with the side windows, or do you not like the look of tint?

Get a very light tint, not the dark ones.
