Ok, I have an 88S with a really jacked-up front clip but has a good engine with 8k on the rebuilt head, good transmission, good clutch and a very good interior. I found an 87 N/A for pretty cheap, when I say cheap I mean its a little over $2k. I'm gonna go look at it in the morning but from the pics that were sent to me the body looks in very good condition. I'll take and posts some pics in the morning.
Would it be cost effective for me to buy the 87 and swap the engine and Transmission/transaxle?
I would then part out everthing else that was left over.
I would be attempting to do all the work myself after I get my S2 running again(which should be after next week when I get my parts back from the powdercoater).
What do you guys think?

It's not the spoiler. The bumper was crushed, both fenders were pulled in, the hood was folded, and there was frame damge to the clip, but the front valence survived with hardly a scratch.
I have all the replacement panels and hood but the frame damage bothers me. I set the new hood on it and the hood latch doesn't even line up. This was the car that was stolen by the body shop last year.

Ah, ok. I suppose it would be worth it if the time/efford is alot less in doing the swap then in doing the body work. My guess is that it'd be a piece of cake to swap one to the other when you have the parts car there to constantly pull parts from.

Well, What I was thinking is that the engine swap would be more cost effective than getting the body work done, which I can't do myself, but I'll be doing the swap myself and I could sell off all the extra parts the recoup some of the cost.

i think it'd be worth it to do the swap. that way you have the heart of your S and the peace of mind of a solid chassis. as long as time and labor really aren't a big consideration for you. i hate to see another 944 bite the dust, but with frame damage you might as well just can it and start with a good one.

Erau is thinking exactly on the same lines as myself. I think after the swap is done I'll have plently of good parts to sell that would probably get all my money back for the cost of the donor car. Time and difficulty is not a major concern for me as much as the money factor.
