Well, it's much easier to change the gear oil when the tranny is out of the car

Well I got the "new" tranny in. Didn't get to try it out. Ran out of steam before hooking up the shift lever. I just wanted to get the under car stuff done before the rain started - which it did before I was done. Well I'm ready to head to limerock - also in the rain. Bummer.

I'm just beat now.

Just a note, probably for any searchers of this thread in the future... filling the gear oil is easy with it in. just get a roll of clear rubber tubing (very cheap) cut the tip of a gear oil cap to what it needs to be to be snug in the tubing. Runteh hose from the oil fill, to the driver rear wheel well. (have the wheel off at the time). once you squeeze enough oil down the tube into the tranny, that there is a few inches of free space in the top of the bottle, cut the bottom of the bottle off. now you have a funnel to poor the rest of your bottles into and it runs right through pretty quick. at least thats what i did.
