Haha! That's gold...if u look close you can see the patches....well done!! (I wouldnt have known if you didnt say so!)
I'm just wondering if it would be worth it as Damian says to just fork out the $200 for the GT-Racing bumper, or get a shop to properly fill and paint the holes...

I had quotes of about $400 for a body shop to fill the holes on stock bumper and shoot the paint if I handed them the bumper off the car. And that was for a bondo fill which I didn't like the idea of.

So I took mine to a custom bike shop and that them weld the holes up and grind flush. Then I took over. Took a LOT of spare time wet sanding by hand. Total cost was $70.

I don't know about the GT Racing bumper considering their reputation on fit and no mounting hardware. Total cost could be well over $500 by the time a body shop got the thing on and looking good. And then you are left without a functioning rear bumper. You can debate the saftey issue with all the SUVs on the road that are going to have bumpers much higher than ours. But if you tap a glass bumper you have a much higher repair bill than a beefy aluminum bumper.

Hmm, that's alot of money to paint such a small piece...I may get the front bumper done at the same time, so maybe I will get a better deal...I just want it done properly and the paint to match exactly at the end of the day.

Brendan,

It is the fact that you are only doing one piece that shoots the cost up for things like the painting where you have to color match and clean up the equipment. If you did a few pieces I'm sure the price would drop.

I thought the cost was crazy which is why I did it myself.

I like the lights they look great. Did you replace the colored plastic pieces w clear pieces? If so how was it done? As for the bumper does it need to be connected w silicone or can you just leave it?

If you guys r paying that much for body work...OH my god...you guys are being ripped off......I know you guys have seen pics of my car..and it is shiny....Yeah I painted the entire car and paid for ther GT REar bumper, and still spent less than $700.....MAn if you guys are seriously paying that much for body work then your better off sendinf the stuff to me and i will paint it for you at a good price.. I would only charge $100 to paint anybodys bumper and fill the holes for them....Its so easy to do.....

Yeah, Iceshark's quote of $400 at a bodyshop seems a little steep...I'm sure I could find a place in town to do it for less...
