In doing two autocross schools and one track race many people commented on how much my car dips when I brake. The car is a 84 944. The PO put KYB Gas Adjust shocks in the rear, the front struts are still unidentified. One instructor said I should put stifer springs in the front. Currently the front springs have three blue dots on them. The Factory Manual shows a rate of 3873-2946 N. I have yet to figure out what rate that is. What rate should I install to prevent the "nose dive"?
John Hajny of REDLINE Rennsport Services feel free to offer advice.

If you need to know front sway dia. I'll go measure it.

Measured diameter is: Front 21.5mm
Rear 15mm

I'll also lower the back end a little, if recommended.

The car was weighed at an SCCA event on the scales as follows: (without driver)

Front Left 692
Front Right 729
Rear Left 637
Rear Right 633

Thanks,

Michael

I'm not John, but I'll take a shot. Fronts are ~140# stock. Looks like you could benefit from upgraded struts and shocks and maybe 200# springs up front (with the sways you now have, are you seeing a bit of oversteer?). Konis are my pick, but...

Do you have a Martini? Hope to see you at an event soon! Will you be at PCA/PNWR DE's? AX's?

This is the package that's on my 87 924GT. It work great on the auto-cross course but is rather harsh on brick roads.
Up front are 350# Hypercoils, adj. yellow Konis, solid steel (non-adj.) camber plates, riding on C-2 rims that are 7.5x17 with 225-45-17's. The back also has C-2 rims that are 9.0x17 with 255-40-17's, yellow Konis adj., with turbo torsen bars. The sway bars are stock turbo S bars and the tires are Kuhmos. The suspension geometry has been set to a full race set-up which I am told has alot of neg. camber in it. The wheels have a noticable neg. look to them (rears) and the car is allitle twichy on the street but corners like its on a rail. I also just put a re-built tranny along with a new 944 torsen II (LSD) and I'm very, very pleased with the balance.
Just my .02 cents worth to this once hijacked post.

Going to Rennsport II this week and the car will be up for sale.

It's turbo time!!!
