Well you've gotta give us some qualifications:

1) How large do you want to go?
2) How much are you willing to spend to get there?
3) How much are you willing to modify your car to get there?
and
4) What year is your car? Is it an S or a 'normal' Turbo? M030?

You can probably get away with fitting 18x9" wheels up front and 18x11" wheels in the rear if you're willing to spend enough & roll the fenders, but those wheels would be no fun on a street car.

The year of your car can make a difference....... besides, WTF is regular about cars that have been out of production for over 10 years. When guys ask you to be specific it is because they want to give you accurate information. So what year is your car?

Well, the 87 non-S turbos are also pretty "regular" although not as plentiful. There are some big differences for fitting wheels on an 86 car as opposed to an 87 car. The 86 is "early" offset and the 87 and later cars are "late" offset. Big difference and it means you have to take some additional pains to use late offset wheels on an early offset car. It means you can use some early offset wheels that late offset people can't (Fuchs). I have an 86, but it's by no means normal in the suspension department anymore! It's got 87 late offset parts (a-arms, spindles, hubs, tie-arms, rotors), 86 calipers and misc. stuff, and 89 M030 struts, springs, and sway bars! I plan on changing over to a full coilover suspension at some point as well....

Greetings,

I am looking for a set of track/autoX wheels and tires.

I have searched here and it seems 17" are the largest reccomended for the track.

I have a N/A '86 944.

Any ideas?

I like the Wheels Sizus Maximus, any idea who caries those? Tirerack has ****.

Hi Dave, I just got back from Lime Rock last night, fun place in an '86 NA. To be honest, I can't imagine a need for anything larger than 16", depending on your setup larger wheels will most likely slow you down. That said, for all I know you're asking because you need to clear big brakes or something. More info about your mods might help get you more information, eg. coilovers in the front will give you a little more room on the inside etc. To really push the size limits you'll need to look at Fikse, BBS, Kenesis or the handful of others who make good 3 piece wheels and can put together something that will use all available space.
