Exclamation Clutch Plate removale

hey!

I just got the clutch out and I want to remove the freeking 8 hex bolt from the fat clutch back plate, the thing that is behind the clutch, attached to the crank.

Can anyone tell me what would be the best way to remove the 8 hex bolts? I tried a a hex socket with my wrachet and a torque tube, but it seems like if it's gonna stay and strip.

I did some research, but no one has a right up on crank removal and my freeking manual is at home and I would like to get info before going tonight to the garage...

If any one know... let me know and everyone else how to... =)

Thanks a bunch --->

- flywheel bolts, okay. That is a triple square. You need to make the special trip to the store to get the right socket - don't even think about putting an allen in there, or you will be one sorry dude.

Yea those are not regular allens by any means! Wait how did you take off your CV joints and the other bolts in the clutch without the triple square socket???

Anyway, these tools can be found easily at Autozone, they sell in packs of 4 an 8mm 10mm 12mm and 13mm(?). They are like an allen wrench that is designed to fit into a regular 1/2'' socket.

HTH!

Check this out!

http://www.mytoolstore.com/sk/sk03093.html

Thats what you're looking for...the cheaper ones don't come with the socket connection at the one end.

Good Luck!

Wow... good thing I asked the pros... =)

That what I was looking for an answer...

For the Flywheel bolts I was able to do it no prob with my hex socket ---> =)

But these a bit crazy looking for mine... =P

Second question of the day:

If I want to remove the rod from the crank, there is 2 nuts that attach the 2 parts of the rod together, what type of socket do I need for that?

Thank again for all your answers... =)

Those nuts are just regular 12 point. So you need a regular socket - but a 12 point socket - instead of a 6 point socket.

When you put that oil-pan gasket on, make sure you have the surfaces perfectly clean. Wipe them down on both the inside & outside with acetone to make sure no oil dripped on.
