Cool Rear License Plate Aligned, Ala Danno

I visited Danno's Racer X website and amongst all the info was some photos of his "aligned" rear license plate. After seeing his photos my misaligned plate quickly became an eyesore. Amazing how bad it looks after seeing his photos. So I swapped mine and I like it. Thanks Danno

Here it is before alignment

Here it is after, Ahh much better!

If you are wondering what the two holes between the plate and the lights are and the two holes on the bumper well here is what I started with! I knew that was bad form and changed it real quick after I bought the car.

You can use the pics, no problem. I will PM the links to you.

Haven't heard of the Easter run is it on the Turbo board? They need to cross post over here to get more exposure for the NA crowd. I will try to make it.

Jeeper, I just have duct tape on the inside to keep the rain out now. I will have to do something. There was a sponser here called Bumper Plugs that sold Porsche colored plugs for license plate holes in bumpers. I figure those would look better than the holes but I haven't bought any yet. Any suggestions?

I was thinking those plugs too. Looked into it awhile ago and e-mailed the company. If i remember correctly they seemed pretty expensive but I could be wrong. Let me know if you find anything out. please.

I just went through this whole hole issue when I pulled off my rear rubber bumper pads and discovered these HUGE oblong bolt holes. I was going to put in plastic plugs but the bumper doesn't have any flat surfaces so the big plugs wouldn't lay flush. I ended up having them welded up.

But you don't want the refinishing job like that, trust me! However, your holes are pretty small in diameter so just go down to a good hardware store and get some small plastic plugs that will fit, paint to match your car color and away you go. I have a black car so the Plasti-kote import black was a perfect match. I'm not sure how close their red will be, but give it a shot. A 6 oz. spray can is only 4 bucks at the discount auto store.

Well you made me look!
Ayup, does look out of place with the plate shifted down. Soooo, after reading this post this morning I went out and corrected the problem. Does look alot more balanced with the plate centered. Never would have thought of it had I not read this post.
Thanks guys,
Bill

BTW: There was a reason the plate hangs over the edge of the trim on the bottom. With a slight angle, the lights above the plate iluminate the numbers better, making the plate more visible at night.

I doubt it is illegal to move the plate up as Danno & company have done, and even if it were, I doubt that anyone would hassle you for it -- most likely they wouldn't even know about the angle thingy.

Just a little bit of 944 trivia to make your day a happy one!

Looks like I am missing something. Is Danno selling some sort of realignment kit for rear license plates?

It's amazing. This is the first thing I did to my car when I bought it 3 years ago (thanks to Danno then too!).

What's old is new again.

I have also been told (although never tried it), that if you move the front bracket to the back, it centers the plate (for those of you who never run a front plate).
