the other day i noticed a new oil leak. it is dripping off of the power steering pump. it appears to be the filter. so i changed that, and it went away. well today it started up again. BTW, a leak is a understatement, it pours oil. when i had the filter out i took a look at that area. and there doesnt appear to be anything else that could leak.
any suggestions?

Yous have to remove the balance shaft cogs to replace the seals, so yes the belt has to come off. As I recall, the camsaft belt is behind the balance shaft belt, so you can leave it on.
You can just remove the timing cover if you just want to check for leaks.

When I removed the lower balance shaft cog I could see a little oil seeping out.
You should remove the camshaft belt, too. There is a seal behind the crank pulley (front main seal) and one behind the cam pulley. You should do them all while you're in there. If your belts and water pump are due for replacement it would be a great time to do that too since you're right there. Sorry for the bad news.
This may not be the cause of your oil leak but from what you described it sounds exactly like mine and that's what it took to fix it.

if it is the problem i am going to bite the bullet and bring it to the shop. i am sick of working on her now, and i cant handle the mental stress of dealng with timing.

I would suggest you steam clean the engine bay thoroughly so you can see what is what.
Personally I would take it to a Porsche Service station for a check over if you are not confident you know what you are doing.
If you are determined to check it yourself
Arrange with a local garage/tyre exhaust centre whatever to put it up on the ramp for inspection and with a decent lamp see if you can pinpoint wheere it is coming from from underneath the car.Obviously stick it on tickover before raising it on the ramp.
It could be as simple as leaking from the hose beneath the reservoir like mine was. (The Porsche service agent wanted to replace the pump at $400 ! yeah right!...)
It is probably a split hose or leaking at the hose end where its jubilee clipped. Hoses dry out and become less flexible in time and are more prone to leaking.
Whatever you do don't start stripping the engine until you have elliminated all the easy stuff first.

If its gushing oil more than likely a hose is on the way, but like peanut says clean the engine first so you can get a good look at things.

its not that i am not confident in my work. i put the eninge in with the assistance of my brother. i also removed the head to replace all the valves and put it all back together, including timing. frankly i am just sick of working on it.
i think what i might do is disconnect the oil cooler and see if something looks out of place. if that isnt it then i will probably try to get it in the shop this next week.
i do agree that i should check all the easy stuff first.
another thing is that it isnt coming from the actual hose. it appears to be seaping out of the end of the line. which is a metal connection.
