hey my car is a 1985.5 NA, if you want to add that. Im not completely sure, but im hoping i can go.
BTW
i'm still not sure if i'm actually going to do my belt there, i might just hang out and watch and see what is involved. I'm kind of scared to try to do a water pump, rollers and belts all in one day, if i ran into trouble, i would have no way home and my car stuck there... seems like a huge job. ( i guess im scared out of it)
hope to see you there!

I'll most likely be in the 87 951 assuming it's going by then. I suppose I'll sand and buff some PO paintwork. Maybe something else if I think of it. That's just something I've been putting off.
Anyone want me to bring any tools lemme know

Good Point on the tools. I re-read the last thread and JosephSC had both the kriket and the p9201 so if he is willing to bring those then that part is all set. I've never done the timing belt so I really dont' know what other tools are needed. If you want I can edit my first post to include who is bringing what tools.

Good point Riff. Someone make a list of desired tools and accessories and let's see who can bring what.
Like Riff, I've got a spare set of ramps, two nice breaker bars, a torque wrench, air tools, etc. I don't anticipate doing any work on my own car.

My post from the other thread had items I found I needed from my recent water pump / belt / roller change. These were not items you might think of at first glance. Perhaps it can be re-copied here.
You need the shim to offset the balance shaft toothless roller as well.
If someone knows of a set of ramps that really can be usable, I'd like to see a picture of them and get the angle of the ramp (wrt the ground) measured. I can't use ramps on my (stock ride height) 924s.

This is the information that Kjp posted on the other thread:
May I suggest some items based on my recent timing belt/roller/pump change:
1. If you don't know whether you have an 80 degree or an 83 degree thermostat, have both handy when you are installing the new water pump
2. If you are doing a water pump change, you are likely to have stuck/seized waterpump mounting bolts. In the event that you snap one off, someone should bring along a drill, thread tap, and black oxide drill bit (shortened) to drill it out the broken bolt. I found I could fit a 3/8" drill in place with the engine fans removed and using a cut (short) drill bit. Don't forget to have a center punch and some oil handy for drilling.
You may want to use the tap (6mm x 1.0) just to clean the threads out on the bolt-holes that are not stripped.
3. Know if you need the smaller or larger diameter smooth timing belt pulley, this depends on whether you are planning to use a updated or non-updated water pump. My understanding is that the timing belt cover needs to be modified if installing an updated water pump for the first time.
4. Order new waterpump mounting hardware (bolts/nuts/washers). You can get them from Zims for less than $9.00.
5. A straight razor-blade is a great way to remove the old water pump gasket material.
6. During reassembly, make sure to use plenty of anti-sieze compound on the bolts and nuts that hold the waterpump in.
7. When putting the timing marks on the balance shaft sprockets, make sure to get the mark on the metal front piece _and_ the gear itself (because it comes apart in 2 pieces). Make sure to have some liquid paper or white-out handy.
