How to install thermostat recirculation seal?
So this gasket seal is missing in the waterpump housing. This is the one the thermostat back valve closes onto when the engine is at operating temp. p/n 951.106.155.00. Now how do I get it to seat in the hole with the waterpump installed in the car. I tried softening the seal in boiling water, and putting WD40 on the lip to no effect. I'm basically doing it blind and using my fingers to force it on. Could'nt really smooth the hole with sandpaper as it's limites access. Any ideas? Someone else must have run up against this too. Thanx!!

I have to admit that I've installed 2 rebuilt water pumps since I've had my car and I don't think either one had that seal in it. Haven't seen any problems yet. My wild-*** guess is that you'll need some kind of driver to install it.
