HID 7" Xenarcs
This is sort of a public service message on lighting.
Osram/Sylvania has totally crashed and burned the HID 7" rounds for our cars. Right now they are on "Fire Sale" at $149.99 for a pair with all the fixings like wiring, etc:

There are about 20 pair left if you want these ... I know some Rennlisters like Tom P. wanted them to try out, just for the hell of it. Well, here is the chance.
Only word of caution is that there is a reason this product line failed and the price went from $800 and something to $150. I've posted about the problems on this particular line before. But if you have an extra $150 to try them out, give Sylvania a shout.

I have no idea how Sam's info came up since I just posted the link to the headlights in question, 20 minutes prior to Sam responding. I'll purge the link.
Just go to Sylvania, click on automotive lighting and HID and you can wander yourself over to the appropriate page.

Apparently their site sends login info via link and registered your link's "random" code to my info since I logged in with my info on that link - I have since logged out, and I think as long as you log out, it clears the login.

Are these hi and lo beam? It seems they are HID lo and H3 hi - which is fine by me.
What are the problems? Are they solvable? Or will my car burn to the ground??

Well - can they be worse than the stock Halogens?
I know some HID upgrades (bulbs and ballast only) can be horrible - since the lenses are not tailored to the source of the light (arc vs filiment) - but these kits seem a completely engineered package.
Iceshark - or other lighting experts - can you elaborate?

Yes, they were HID for the low and kicked on an H3 for high.
The problem was that they were not designed very well nor manufactured at the best place in ..... nevermind. The whole project was a disaster according to the former project manager who stated that the final product was about as good, maybe less, as a sealed beam you can buy at PepBoys for 6 bucks. I'll leave the comments at that.
If you want to buy a pair for $150 to experiment, that is what I was posting this for since I knew some wanted to. I wouldn't waste 150 bucks myself since I have had a sample in my hands and tested, though not a very scientific test as I was time constrained. They were pretty bad.
And no, they can't be fixed.

Wow that appears as a good deal to me. IceShark, do you happen to know: are they also a 'bolt-on' (not literaly of course) replacement for Euro H4 style lenses?
Hmm...I'm undecided whether I should order. I need new lenses anyway, so I had some cash reserved for lighting
But, the 'bad' part is I already purchased 70 bucks worth of relays, cables, etc...

Okay - I'm the ginuea pig! Bought a set today and I will report on my findings.
I am no expert - but have considerable competitive experience in night driving at high speeds in the twisties with serious light (4xHella 4000's + Ecode H1 80/100's) for several years.
I bought these as much to test and for the "wow" factor - since this car is a daily driver that sees little or no high speed night driving.
I wonder it they will actually INCREASE the resale value to the unsuspecting as well. So the investment might pay for itself.
So longs as the light is as good as Halogens - I'll enjoy the lower current draw (after light up of course) from them and the "neato" factor and call it a day.
I'll let the list know how things turn (on) out.

Ton, they are "bolt on", though you still have to rewire for the startup charge for the ballasts to get the arcs fired up.
These won't work for you anyway as they are DOT, not the E-Code you need since you are in Europe. You will never pass inspection or maybe even the passing cop.
