My mileage hasn't been up to par as most of you so I was wondering what it would take to put such a guage in my '86 951? Is there anyway I can just plug something into the computer that measures it or what? I would like to see what I am getting on the highway just cruising then I can compare a little better to most people. Where would I get the guage from? Has anyone done this? How hard/$$ are we talking? Thanks

Would think you need to get a gauge assembly that has this in it. Also check that terminal #11 on the DME plug has a wire going over to the gauges.
These MPG/GPH gauges are not all that accurate. However between the injector pulse width and the speedo milage input there must be a way to do some data logging and interpolation.

A way i was told to check my MPG on a car with a broken odometer was to goto a gas station and fill the tank completley. Choose a location that i believe is 60 miles round trip from the station. Drive out, and drive back. Fill the tank and see how many gallons you are filling up on. Not sure if this is the correct procedure, but should give you a good estimate.
