That looks like something in your hosts file is redirecting the ads. Try putting an ad blocking hosts file on your PC (here is a link to a good one...: http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html ). Otherwise, you may have to go through and manually remove whatever scumware is running on your computer as I have tried just about all of the free spyware removers and still have to go through by hand to remove registry entries and delete files. If you need help removing these virtual herpes from your computer, we'll be able to help. Hope that helps.

I had a virus type file get into my system files like this, was a wnsv.....exe file, i dont remember the exact file name, but it took me three hours to find the damn thing. Deleted it, cleared the registry, and that took care of it.

go into your task manager and post all files that are currently running under the processes tab. I am guessing you have something running that shouldnt be.

Pete,
somehow i downloaded a program that would check my clock. it was always on the bottom right of my desktop, and linked to that nonsense. i removed the clock program and the pop ups stopped.

On another note, if i do, i will take you up on your offer, and send you tags/plates a month in advance so you can make sure you think it is reliable enough for the 10 hour ride back.

#1- I always download & install all critical updates.
#2-done
#3-I'll try it out.

Ill try to do that tomorrow. Windows 98 was much simpler, XP runs all kinds of crap that I don't have a clue about.

I use earthlink and don't get any pop-ups. I don't think switching ISPs will help. Are you using earthlinks pop-up blocker?

I am using it along with the google toolbar and they still get through sometimes. I also have Norton Systemworks 2004 running and updated.
It's a tough little ba$t*rd infecting this computer.

I just moved to an area that I can get DSL in so that's the main reason I'm switching. I'll still have dialup on the infested box at work. I just need to track down the bug.

Strange... most of the time I use a Mac with Mozilla for web-browsing and don't have any problems pop-ups from any website. But I've also got Java and Javascript turned off as well, and definitely no ActiveX.

Opera. It will allow you to kill most of the popups.

and it's java2 enabled.

What he has isn't exactly a pop-up or it would do just that, pop-up in a window buy itself. Since its integrated on the Rennlist site or what I and a few others believe, the Rennlist site is being integrated into someone else site that you are being redirected to then its not a pop-up but some kind a software running that you didn't put there. Is the full URL correct when when this happens?

right click the page and click properties. Is the domain of the page a rennlist domain?

That is odd. The only thing I can think of is what has already been mentioned. Spyware. I would highly recommend Spysweeper. I purchased it on the Internet but I think you can now get it at Best Buy.

Take care,
Matt
