Default LR ultra motor mounts:easier to install?

I noticed they use shims to adjust engine mount height. Since most motor mount installation is a hassle due to height, I believe they might be the easiest engine mounts to install.
Can anyone chime in?

Engine mounts are a hassle in every vehicle on the planet. The 944 was absolutely no worse than anything else. I think mine took about an hour per side. I use the motor hoist to float the engine and then just had to wrestle. Will height adjustable mounts be easier? Probably a little bit. But the access is still difficult and the job is still tedious.

If you go that way, I'd appreciate it if you would leave a review of what you think of them. I was thinking about it while I have everything apart for some work but decided that my current mounts are in reasonable condition as is. Next time though...

PS: I dig your RL name, it's in my daily and it's fantastic

Cheers

@Sethmark I thought that until I did the mounts on my 996, twenty minutes later and I was done and drinking my first beer.

Op, a while back I had those mounts on a street car and really didn’t like them so they are on my track car now. Still a pain to fit and the vibration was worrying.

There are variants of difficulty but they’re all less fun than a hernia test.

The LR motor mount is an application for race cars
A rigid mount transfers vibration to the chassis

I know, I have solid mounts on my M3s.

944 will mainly be a street car (and autoX when I finished with restoration) so I am looking at the semi-solid one which has rubber insert in between them.

Were these semi-solid mounts they offer? Or the solid ones?

I thought you were posting about the Lindsey Ultra Mounts so I don’t know what you mean by “solid” or “semi-solid”.

Aren't the basic ones solid while ultra mounts are solid with rubber inserts on them? I wouldn't exactly call them semi-solid in structure but vibration wise.

Yep, again though I thought this thread was about the Ultra Mounts not the solid ones.

I had the Ultra Mounts and would never recommend them for a street car. I suppose you could describe them as semi-solid as they were not solid aluminum and had rubber isolators instead of fluid like the factory mounts.

Update: So I got around to install LR ultra mounts, the semi-solid one with polyurethane(?) inserts.

Installation: This is where LR shines. Stock motor mounts have round inserts on top that you need to squeeze into the hangar, and it is a PITA to get it off. LR mounts do not have this, so it slides back in very easily.

Impression: Ride quality is excellent. There is a very slight vibration in idle but is very smooth when moving and the front does not flex during the cornering.
Obviously a big improvement over the worn out stock motor mounts that were collapsed to 55mm on the exhaust manifold side and 65mm on the driver's side and were leaking.
Very happy with the result and the fact that I won't ever have to worry about the motor mounts again is a big plus.
