Default FR Wilkes Chip - Anyone know his website?

Already searched the archives. The only URL that came up would not work. Anyone know how I can reach this person?

Thanks Manning. I emailed him. Curious, have you used one of his chips? Results?

I've heard everything from makes no diff to made a huge difference!

Throttle response was something I noted immediately. Hard to comment on power, but it certainly does change the dynamic of the car for the better. I was very, very pleased with the results.

I don't. I have an Autothority now and used a Europroducts for a while, which was nothing special. I recall Micah commenting on how much he liked his when he got it and haved debated replacing the Autothority but I think I'll sit tight for now, so many other things to work on for now. Maybe.

Okay, thanks. I just heard back from FR Wilkes. It's only $200 and for that amount, I want to try it.

Just out of curiosity for those that have a chip, do you have to swap it back out again when you go to pass smog testing? or do they even notice?

On mine, Floyd installed a switch that allows me to toggle between a "stock" chip that has the surge probelm fixed, and a performance chip. Its a very sweet deal, and I like the way my car feels with that chip in it.

I asked about the switch and was told to just order the basic Power Chip2. He qouted $200 but the dual chip approach with stock chip and stumble correction looked like it was $325. Does this jive with what you did?

Mine was a bit cheaper than that, but I did this when he was first developing the chips, so he cut me a break. But yeah, thats what I did.

If he's telling you to just go with the Power Chip 2, I'd listen to him.. He's got this whole thing pretty well down.

Scott, Just asked him what he recommends for exhaust. Mine is stock, but there is a barely noticeable "rattle" inside the cat. The muffler shop I went to told me it is the catalytic material starting to break up in there. So I am wondering if I should put in a bolt-able/removable test pipe for the cat and what muffler to go to. I don't want LOUD. I wouldn't mine a nicer slightly more aggressive rumble though. What are you running for exhaust?

Oh p.s. - This chip is on your 84 NA, right?

I just installed his chip on my higher compression Euro motor last week. I'm waiting on some paint drying (yeah, in the ice and snow we're having) before driving the car.
I wish I could give you some specifics, but not yet.
Once I've taken it out for a spin I'll provide as much information as possible in a post.

I'm running a stock exhaust, and yes, we are talking on my '84. If you don't want *loud*, you probably want to stay that way, altho I recall Markus Blazak talking about early 944's on the email list, and iirc, he said that a cherry bomb muffler with no cat made the car perk right up, altho it was LOUD.

My NA has long tube headers and test pipe, and even with a muffler it sounds both horribly loud and horrible. Second only to RX7 and tied with Focus in worst exhaust note ever.
