How good is an on-line Kelly Blue Book price quote?
Hey just wondering, how reaslistic is a Kelly Blue Book
private party price quote. I did an on-line quote for a '94
Guards Red 968 coupe in excellent condition with
90,000 miles. The price came back as $13.9k. Is this
a good price?
Anyone?

Thanks for the welcome.
The KBB price quote is definitely lower than the asking price on this car.
The seller is asking $16.9 for this car with a manual tranny.

the most acurate prices for porsches are found in the pml (porsche market letter). you have to get a subscription, but if you are seriously buying, and really looking for a great car, its worth it, for their valuations, articles, buying guides, and classifieds

It's not even worth the paper it's printed on. It says low 3k for an 1986 951 if I can find them that cheap I would have 3 for what mine cost. Nada is a little better but still not what it should be around. Also the car is only worth what a buyer and seller want to make a deal on. Maybe KBB gives me more reason to keep the 951 forever

KBB should only be used as a rough estimate if curious as to the price range for a vehicle. Porsches, (particularly well maintained water-cooled front engines) will always list in KBB low due to depreciation. They are sold much higher because it's a select car market and buyers are usually determined to get what they want and pay for a great example. After all, it's worth as much as an enthusiast is willing to pay.

There seems to be a consensus of opinion here. Thanks for all the input. I'll
check into the Market Letter.
What does anyone think of the $16.9K asking price of a 94 968 coupe with
90,000 miles on it?
