Default Couple questions (pictures)

I was taking pictures and i figured it would be a good time to ask some questions.

1. Here is looking from the battery box, at the heater blower motor. there is a vacuum line coming from the firewall (goes to teh brake booster) and it is not connected anything.. see? Where is it supposed to go and what does it do?

2. Same picture, here is a closer up. the plug and sensor (?) that goes right infront of the intake for the blower, is it broken? or is it supposed to be just two wires fused together hanging out of it...

and finally

3. As far as i know, this is the idle regulator valve, or something close to that? I thought this unit was only on the 83 - early 85 cars, or all early cars? could be wrong,i'm just going by memory? it has plugs on it,, is it supposed to be pluged to anything? is it even supposed to be here?

Thanks for the help guys..

On the first one is there any chance that vaccum line should be connected to the plug you show in picture 2?

I have no idea what the last pictures are of. I know my 87 924S has nothing like it that i've seen. What is under that plastic cap on the tubing?

Good Luck!
Erich

I think the vac line is supposed to connect to a vacuum accumulator bottle.

You see that little stub of a bracket with two holes in it poking up in the top picture? I think it is supposed to mount there. I don't think you really ultimately have to have it and you can maybe just plug the vac line. In fact I am pretty sure Skippy eliminated it on his car when he did the MSD ignition install a couple years ago.

Ok, the vacuum line is supposed to go to a small vacuum tank that is supposed to be mounted behind the battery. With this line disconnected not only do you have a serious vacuum leak, but I'd bet your climate controls don't work properly.

Speaking of climate controls, the "fused wires" are a thermocouple that reads ambient air temperature for the climate control system.

The last item has me a little puzzled. That last shot shows what I believe is an axillary air solenoid from an early car. On the early cars this solenoid opens when the A/C is on to allow additional air into the intake to compensate for the additional mechanical load on the engine. On the early cars this solenoid is mounted on the rear air box bracket by 2 10mm bolts, and has two wires coming form the A/C compressor circuit.

However, the later cars don't need this solenoid because they have an Idle Stabilizer. This has me wondering if maybe someone transplanted an early engine into a late chassis?

i don't think so, everything else seems as normal, and i am almost positive this is the original engine.. any other ideas??? any way i can check? what are some common signs that its aa alate or early engine? i seem to bet this hose broke and someone replaced it with one from an earlier car with this on it...?

thanks

i think its a return spring for the throttle .. how else would the cam return on its own?

oh.. and should there be a filter in front of the heater blower there? or is it fine how it is?

Don't know. have to look again. Was looking yesterday and don't remember seeing a spring. I was actually wondering what went there. Though maybe it was another holder incase you wanted to move the cable over. (don't know why one would want to do that though)

I don't think they came with filters. Or if they did, I don't have one either.

I wouldn't breath that sigh of relief yet. We could simply both be screwed.

I did just remember that I think they do make aftermarket filters that you can put in there. If that matters...
