When i'm releasing the clutch pedal right after a shift, it sticks at about halfway, then springs up after my foot is completely off of it. Has anyone else had this sort of problem? Please don't tell me it means what i think it means.

I had that happen before. It got worse - I had to start using my toe to pop it up. The problem is most likely the master cylinder. I replaced both the master and the slave on mine and it worked fine afterward. Both parts can be had under $100 (combined). The labor isn't hard, the bolts on the master can be difficult to get to unless you've got a nice assortment of socket extensions. The hardest part is bleeding the system correctly when you're done. I suggest a Motiv power bleeder.

I got mine from Paragon. Get both the slave and master cylinders. Also, go to a hardware/ auto store and pick up a universal joint socket piece. It makes getting to hard-to-reach bolts much easier. Bleeding with the motive is much easier than by hand. After having bought one, I'm pretty sure they could be fabricated from off the shelf stuff from home depot for a few bucks.

I got them from Stuttgart in Centerville (I lived in Dayton at the time). I found one of them on E-Bay (from Stuttgart) so I called and asked if I could just buy both outright.

My clutch is like that too, well not as bad. It is just a little jerky on the release. I'm not too worried about it though. At the PPI they said it's not a big deal, and the other mech who I saw didn't think anything of it. If it gets worse I might do something about it.

For reference, that's what my car did before the master/slave cylinders failed. However, it took about 8-10k after that to get to the point of needing replacement.

Folks: it may not be the Master cylinder: it would be something as simple at an incorrectly installed clutch pedal spring.
That's what was wrong with mine: it just needed to be adjusted and viola! No sticking clutch pedal!

I had the same problem, and replaced master, slave and hoses without fixing it. Turned out to be too much free play at the pedal. It should be only 1/8", much less than some other cars. Check it out.

After I replaced my master and slave cylinder I had this problem. It was unlikely that the new master was the problem so I attacked the adjustments on the pedal. Once I got that correct, no more stickiness!

This is an old thread but I'm having this problem now with the clutch pedal sticking and I'd like to hear more about clutch pedal adjustment?
I don't see any leaks from the master cylinder, so I doubt it's the problem. I bled the system extensively yesterday, replacing the slave cylinder in the process due to a rounded out bleed nipple,
and it's still squeaking and sticking half way.
So, how do you adjust the clutch pedal? TIA

Luis, there is an assist spring up under the dash, which helps to pull the pedal up off the floor. Inside the spring is a threaded rod with a nut on it to move an adjustable perch to preload the spring. More preload = more assist. I rebuilt my clutch hydraulics this winter and right now all the new seals in the slave and master cylinders are pretty "stiff" so I had to put quite a bit of preload on that spring to get the pedal to come all the way up. YRMV, but you may want to try that adjustment.
