Default Spare wheel

Now the weather is a bit warmer I looked around in the back of the 1983 944, found the spare wheel, seems to be a pump-up type, did the original tool kit provide a 12v compressor?. What did the original tool kit consist of, and does anyone sell such toolkits? All I have is a jack right now.

Welcome, Mike!

Your 83 was probably delivered with the smaller white plastic compressor that could be hard to source at this time. Later cars got the larger compressor units which apparently are plentiful. See these eBay auctions:

Mike, unless you're after authenticity, you're better off looking for an after-market air compressor. The original one that show up on evilBay usually go for close to $100 for a used one -- a mint condition one just recently went for $225. For close to $50, you can go to places like Home Depot and get an air compressor that comes with a flashlight and an emergency jump starter (though my experience is that the emergency jump starter doesn't carry enough juice for our cars...)

I think the toolkit is worthwhile -- but I've add a few things into it -- like a racket with a 10mm socket (for removing the underside panel and lot of other places), a 13mm socket, a 17mm wrench (tightening accessory belts), and duct tape.

Make sure to check your spare wheel once a year....that's unique tire valve has a tendency to detriorate, crack at the seam and leak.

Thanks very much, guys, I have a 12v compressor, Wally-world, similar to the Porsche one on e-bay, in a sort of briefcase. that will do fine. I have lots of metric wrenches, pliers, etc, around, so can make up a toolkit.
