Default Broken sway bar mount

I had a pop in the front end and the left front felt soft. This afternoon I found that my left front outer sway bar mount was broken, does this happen much?

is that the mount on the frame? Im sure if it got rusty or the rubber had been worn out at one time or another that it would break. I would say time to get one or call the dealer.

The bushing is off to the right. A pencil comes down from the 10 o'clock position, the eraser is just above the "strap" that broke off the mount at the outer end of the control arm. The bushing (right edge of pic.) is still good, after the strap broke the bushing walked toward the end of the bar.

I'm planning to replace both mounts just to be on the safe side, I'm just curious that I've never heard of this happening here before this.

Hmmm, I've had a completely worn out broken bushing that caused the bar to bang on the mount, causing the bolts to work a little loose. An actual broken mount is a first though.

I hear statements like that too often, just a knack I've seemed to have acquired.

I had this happen to me almost right after i bought the car. Im not sure when it happened, but i noticed also that the steering got real sloppy. The mount on the drivers side literally was sheered off. I took a piece of metal wire and just wrapped the bar to the frame until i could get the mount fixed. It was not tough to fix, just jack the side of the car up and install. I figure the hardest part was to put the busing into the mount. May be a good time to do both sides as if one of them was that brittle to break, i doubt the other side is in much better shape.

I've got a broken one on my car right now Yes the steering gets pretty sloppy and it tends to oversteer a bit too much now, but it's still driveable until my 968 M030 and new link arrive.
