Question a/c issue

I have noticed that my ac only works when the car is first started. After the engine temp warms up, no more cool air. This is the original system and is very cool at first, but once the egine warms up, it seems like it has no freon in the system. Any thoughts, ideas, similar experiece? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like low freon to me. Once the rad warms up, the condensor (or is it the evaporator?) can't cool off enough to make the freon cold when it enters the cooling core.
Then again, I'm no A/C expert

I'd say the same. There is a cutoff failsafe if there is not enough pressure in the system (pressure from freon). Canister should be on the drivers-side behind the headlight. The small circular glass top is the sight-glass. If there are bubbles apparent through this glass, you need more fluid.

Either that or the heater is kicking in at the same time. Maybe a door isn't closing all the way somewhere. I have no idea where.

Check that glass and see if you there are bubbles. Also if it's low then you have a leak somewhere it probably some really small but R12 last forever so it wouldn't just get used up.

I found the information on Griffiths emensely helpful: Griffiths website. My AC leaks (as with everythingelse in my car) -- I'd also say check pressure level first. Check the sight, or better yet, check the low-pressure side valve (under the car).
