What should the V8 911 (997) be called then? A piece of crap? That would get my vote.

Maybe they were referring to "large volume" street cars? I dunno. Either way, that's what Peugeot's gripe was...

It was still a good joke!
For the record, nein (German for no) is pronounced like nine. The German word for nine (neun) is the one with the oye sound in the middle.

...but Peugeot soon put a stop to this as they had the rights to the number (and a whole lot more 3 digit numbers with a zero in the middle)...
If I understand this correctly they had the rights to a couple of numbers but not all of them. IMHO, it seems ilogical to have the rights to a number, or a series of 3 digit numbers with 0 in the middle, for no apparent reason. My 2 cents...

Don't know if anyone actually read that link, but ...

"An enhancement of the 944, the 968 had a 3 litre (2990cc) development of the 944's straight six engine" Funny, I am pretty sure I only used 4 spark plugs?

"The 944 Turbo joined the stable in 1995 to boost the 944's power to 220bhp"
I am willing to pay the original MSRP for that car, regardless of mileage or condition

"Early version of the 964 suffered from reliability problems, but later version are highly regarded drivers cars, even if they aren't the best looking 911s around."
Uhh...whatever sparky...
