Default Thinking about selling - '89 N/A Auto

I'm closing on my first house next month and I just don't need a 15 year old Porsche that only gets 2k miles a year. Here are some details:

-Guards Red paint/black interior
-73,000 miles
-Auto transmission
-BRAND NEW 16" 964 wheels (finished by Wheel Dynamics) and Yokohama ES 100 tires
-BRAND NEW Lloyd's front mats with "944" logo
-All belts serviced (including timing) in December

The car is in truly excellent shape. I have owned it since April 1993, bought it with 47k miles on the odo. It has always been garaged and has been maintained fanatically.

I just put a lot of money into the car, I didn't plan on selling it but I could really use the extra cash. Make a reasonable offer. I am in Long Island, NY. I have some pics, I'll put them on a hosting site in the next few days.

Thanks,
Chris

BTW, my email is nellysc2@aol.com if you prefer. Even if you aren't interested, I'd appreciate if you read this if you can give me an honest estimate of what you think I can get for this car. I would really like to sell it quickly.

Thanks

I am guessing if it is in good shape it bein the last year of the N/A with the bigger 2.7 you are prob looking at 3,600- 4,000+ if you find the right buyer mabe more if you find the real right buyer. There is always people out there that really like autos just not on this board.

Out here we just chop autos for parts!

Seriously, good luck in your endeavor.

Ouch...I was thinking at least $7k for a car in this condition. If 3-4k is true than these cars have truly **** poor resale. Any other sports car from the year, e.g. Corvette, 300Z, Bimmers, etc, all of which had lower sticker prices, would go for more.

Please understand I'm not shooting the messenger, just expressing shock. I'd like to hear from others. But if this is true, thanks for the wake up call.

Over the last few years the market has bottomed out big time on these cars. Good for buyers bad for sellers. You can get a Decent Turbo for 7K and that is a hell of a car. You really have to love the 944 to be willing to keep them up, it's all for your enjoyment and not resale value these days.

I didn't realize the market had deteriorated this much. I can't afford to keep it on the road but I'm not going to settle for peanuts either. I guess worst case I'll take off the insurance and let it rot in the garage if I can't find a buyer at a reasonable price.
