Same size wheels vs. wider-in-back
#16
Thanks for the info. . . I'll probably hold onto the 15x7 cookies as a spare set just because they're original and I kind of like them, but I think the OZ rims, especially with the 9" wides in the back will look AWESOME! I'll send some pics if / when I actually do this. . .
I'll look for the spacers & lugs too, thanks for the advice guys!

One of the main reason the 944S2 and 951 had a staggered wheel setup (narrower front - wider rear) was to dial in a little more understeer. If you look at MOST cars sold in the USA, most of them have understeer built into their handling characteristics. Why? most American drivers will back off or brake in panic situations, which in an understeering car is a good thing. (Note: that's the same reason our rear sway bars are so thin!)
That said, my 'track setup' is to use 4 same sized wheels and tires at all four corners. Namely, I use 4 8Jx16 wheels with 245-45/16 Pirelli P-Zero C R-compound tires. (Note that my car's stock setup is: 205-55/16 on 7Jx16 front, 225-50/16 on 8Jx16 rear) Makes a HUGE difference in handling! Turn in is crisper, and it is easier to rotate the car in tighter, slower turns.
Just my $0.42,

How do you like the Pirellis? I was thinking about those (they're AWFULLY expensive though) but would like to know how they hold up for daily driving (do they wear out too quickly?) The numbers on them seem pretty good though. Any other thoughts for what kind of rubber?

FWIW, I do have the Pirelli 4000's on my Subaru, and they have excellent grip.
