Default Shifter question

Okay in some 944's, shifting feels a lot stiffer. The gear shift has a much tighter feel to it. Is there somehting that comes loose that causes the shifter to loosen up? and can it be fixed?

Cheers,
Wagz

The shift lever can become worn where linkage arm (correct term?) connects to it. If it becomes worn, it will cause the shift to feel loose. I replaced my shift lever for this reason.
