Default Anyone know a rebuilder in the DC area?

Looking at some insurance auctions, I came across this 968 that is coming up for auction on Wednesday the 3rd. So, this is kind of a rush. I figure if it goes cheap enough it would be worth it to rebuild. I've always wanted a 968, I just can't justify the money to buy a "good" one right now. But a rebuilder... I could swing that. Here's a pic of the damage.

It would only be worth it if the the engine and transmission are ok. A rebuild probably wouldnt be worth it. For the cost of an EXTENSIVE rebuild, you could buy a working one. That rear glass can be VERY expensive ive heard. (im sure you can buy it aftermarket somewhere though...) To make a wise choice you would have to know all the details on that car. Would it drive straight? How extensive is the damage? Pictures are deceiving in the Porsche world.

Yes, I totally agree with you. That rear wheel looks to be at an odd angle, and if the transmission is hit it probably wouldn't be worth it. That's why I'm looking for someone local to examine it for me. The auction is restricted and the general public can't bid. That's why I'm looking for a rebuilder. Hopefully an honest one with a knowledge of Porsches.

Looks like an EASY fixer. Hell if it goes cheap enough the spoiler alone would pay for it. Dont know how you are with your skills but I think it can easily be repaired or made into a track car.

You might actually MAKE money if you part it out!

That's what I'm thinking.

I mean, depending on what the cost is, that might make a good donor for parts for my car.

Back - vultures, back.

Seriously BB, the car is only about 50 miles from you. Know anyone?

Nope.

I can ask tomorrow at the timing belt party, but no promises...

Bump.

Any news after the timing belt party? Or can anyone else provide some info? The car is at IAA in Maryland. Goes up for auction Wednesday.

Argh! I completely forgot to ask. Sorry... I was sick, and it slipped my mind...
