Thumbs up FLOYD BENNET FIELD MEET UP MARCH 7th

I was thinking about have a get together of both city and LI rennlisters and Pcar enthusiasts in the near future to halt off some winter blues, We would meet up at Floyd Bennet field exit 11(south) off the Belt Pkway, Its a very nice stretch of asphalt and was an old airfield it has a bunch of abandoned hangers and a couiple nice stretches of old runway and I think would provide a great backdrop for some amazing photos and just a cool place to hangout for an hr or two then i was thinking we could get something to eat and go for a cruise. Im thinking not this sunday but next sunday. if you are interested please let me know.....This is the place where Bmw groups have meetings....Theres plenty of space to mess around and theres nothing to hit....not suggesting it but theres room for it...

When-MARCH 7th 11-12ish

Where-Floyd Bennet field Brooklyn OR Nassua Coliseum YOU GUYS decide

Who-FTY and hopefully a bunch others

This is also around the area where the nypd has its EVOC training grounds.

Hope a handful of you can make it....the MULLET would also be welcome

all the best-chris

Ahh yes I know Floyd Bennet Field very well. It's a good choice for any car meet. You can probably hold auto crosses with proper permits. But bring your own refreshment because there's literally no conveniences there.

I'll be passing through the area end of this month or early April. But not sure if I'll be using the Porsche with all the snow, ice and salt we have around Albany.

My spring break starts that weekend, so I'll be there if at all possible. The M3 really needs to get out of the garage and stretch it's legs, I assume if there will be mullets, other styles of kraut are welcome also?

Cute photo Tom! She's reading already, huh!

The lovely King's Plaza mall is the only food source close to FBF...and I wouldn't park my Porsche anywhere near there (and I grew up in Brooklyn)! The smart diners would head straight down Flatbush avenue, 10 minutes, to a place called Brennan & Carrs! The best "roast meat" sandwiches in the world!

FBF is really cool because of the WWII era hangers and tower! Great photo opp.

Absolutely not! But I remember when KP was a pleasant place to hang some 30 years ago.

I just remembered this. If you pick one of the empty lots adjacent to the model plane remote control field a mobile coffee truck usually stops in there. But that's assuming if the club is active at this part of the year.

Just make sure that FBF is still open to the public. I know security has been a lot stricter since 9/11.

I want to go FBF, I've never been there and it sounds cool. I may bring a couple of friends with me, so maybe both of my cars will be there, maybe my friends' cars, I don't expect to know until that morning

You can count on tight security but my guess that certain parts are still open to the public. There will be a speed bump at main entrance with security watching. Sometimes they'll stop you for questioning sometimes they just wave you by. Right after the security cube there's a small parking lot to the right. You can use this highly visible area as a gathering area before heading out for an open lot. IMHO: The best "hangout" lot, close to a giant hangar, is located in the usual motorcycle training area which faces a nice open view of Jamaica Bay waters. Be aware the area is well patroled by Park Police which are not above giving tickets for smoking tires However an autocross/DE is usually tolerated with proper permit.
