Is there a way to test whether the fuel pump is working without the need for a fuel pressure gauge?
In my 911, the fuel pump is very noisy and I can hear it when I switch the ignition. However, in the 951 I don't recall ever hearing the fuel pump even when the engine worked.

You screw off the fitting on the front of the fuel rail and jumper the DME relay. Clark's has a write up on it and also about making an adapter to use a fuel gauge. If you don't have or don't want to purchase a fuel gauge, you can just lightly clamp a hose to the threads on the end of the rail and drain it in a measuring bucket or something. I'm unsure of the quarts/gallons per minute the pump should be putting out though so in order for it to be conclusive, I'd get a fuel gauge that way you can definitely rule out the pump.
