Thats a hard question, was the car running properly? Do you have any idea this could have been left this way...? I can only hope too much crap and sand crap didnt get in there..

I would think changing the oil would be the best thing to do before cranking over that engine, if its been driven like that.

At speed the under hood temperature is at or very near the ambiant air temp outside the engine compartment.

Ugh!

Hope it wasn't off the car for too long. . . and it wasn't too dirty / dusty where you are. I still think the cones are a complete waste of $$$, but that's just me - do what you want.

Don't blame yourself, i didnt even know where my cars air filter was for atleast the first year. Now i am having trouble finding the stupid cover to my airbox that i took off...

Hope it works out for you! And as someone said hopefully not too dusty!

Porsche has a tech bulletin about the snorkel coming from the timing belt case. There is a cap and clamp that is at the Porsche dealer for the fix. If some of you have the PET or parts reference catalog, I believe it may be Bulletin #5 in the 924/928/944 book.
