I am totally a put the nuts back on kinda guy.

Lol without doubt the engineers at Porsche knew how to tie down a car back then however, on second thoughts, they may have blocked the springs to transport in which case those could be used as tie downs.

There are a couple of places that have great parts (probably more, just the ones I've dealt with...so far). For stops (which I know you already ordered, but if you want to cancel your order and get something more durable) Rennbay has some great CNC'd pieces; maybe this is what you got, Rennbay seems to have multiple distribution outlets. 944online.com also offers a nice pair of metal arms to replace the factory "pieces". I don't know the dismantlers as well, but the support for these cars is deep as compared to what I've found for the 928; I'm only talking about number of suppliers, the quality of people I've found for both cars has been great. only944.com also has some new seals and pieces that they offer and have also been good to deal with.

I think they are metal since you have the option for brushed or black. I'll probably leave the order since it makes a good lesson. I still remember paying $50 for a rubber airbox strap from those criminals in Atlanta before I found a good dismantler. Man, that still bugs me...

They absolutely were tie downs. That's how they came on the boats. Most were removed by the dealers before delivery. My mechanic who used to work at Porsche told me all about them.

I dunno about 'forum supported' but there are plenty of used parts dealers around. Some huge dismantlers that part dozens of cars a day and some backyard parters that do it as a side hustle. The prices for a part vary widely depending on who you go with. You have dCAutomotive, Auto Atlanta, Parts Heaven (closing soon), LA Dismantlers, 944 Ecology, 944 Online, Plyhammer Parts, Just Joshin used parts, etc. And at any given time there's 10 or more of us with parts cars that can also help out. There's also different forums with used part classifieds. And before you buy anything, do your research. Everyone has been around forever so read up on experiences with each 'vendor'. Also check out Sonnen, Sunset or Suncoast. I've noticed more and more in the past few years that you can often find new parts for less than used from these 3 dealers.

Awesome!!! Thanks, man. The thought of having to buy all new parts makes my wallet squeak.

Just Joshin is a good guy. Been to his place before and bought a windshield and some struts. Fair prices, but he freakin buys up all the parts cars in a 250 miles radius Haha, either way, nice guy and whatever you need, I'm sure he's got it.
