Tooling and production cost for die-forged wheels is among the highest in the production wheel industry. Plus they are brand new, without 40 years of fatigue. That price is honestly pretty amazing. Fuchsfelge is one of I think only four companies that still produce die-forged wheels in appreciable numbers.
I can't fathom why someone would pay over $500 for a set of 4 wheels, nevermind several thousand.
but to some folks the wheels "make the car"...different strokes!
