zehnd,

how did you get rid of the old speaker fader control? Also do the switches in front of the ashtray do anything?

Speaker Fader switch is still there but not used (disconnected)

Ashtray switches are: Mirrors, headlight washers, rear wiper.

The fourth switch is hooked up to my power antenna, so if I'm listening to CD's the antenna stays down.

We only have one FM station and I don't have to have the antenna up for that. But if I need it, flick the switch it goes up.

That antenna is butt ugly.

I openly admit that its a dummy switch, you gotta be a idiot to waste money on putting NOZZZZZZZZZ into a automatic 3-speed 924S. Id probably be pushing something like 170hp while boosting, yea id be able to outrun big rigs and beat minivans in drag races!

I just tell people who are newcomers to the passenger seat that its a secret. They believe me, they think the FE is the nitrous tank...morons.

Mike C., thanks for the compliment. Not a photographer, but I'm always looking for good photo opps, and that was one.

The idea here was that the "classic gray" interior color has a pinkish tone to it which really lit up with the magenta flower background.

This is without my seat covers. My seat covers have centers to match my exterior paint!

Wow. looked again. still can't see switch. Did you put antenna in yourself? thinking about putting a power one in. Mine is just a large mast antenna. Hate it.

The power antennas that came on the pre 85.5 cars were a cool feature that really matched the '80s theme of the early 944s, IMHO. Problem is that the German-made Hirschmann replacements cost nearly $300. They're the same units that many Mercedes cars use.

The aftermarket replacements that can be had for around $90 are Hirschmann only in brand and made in Asia. After 3 bad ones in a row, I contacted Hirschmann USA and they comped me a German one.

It's a much nicer antenna with a thicker stalk and a nice black metal tip with the Hirschmann "H" logo on it. The aftermarket units have flimsy masts with a crummy chrome finish.
