Default What could this be from? Odd weld on the camshaft cover.

I recently picked up an 85 (late year) 944. It runs and drives great and the interior is in incredible shape. BUT when I got home I noticed an odd weld on the camshaft cover that I stupidly overlooked when I checked the car out. I had a 944 when I was young that I lost in a fire and I think my nostalgia got the better of me. The car is mine now and I got a good deal on it so give it to me straight. How much trouble am I in? The weld looks very shallow and I haven’t noticed any worrying engine noise driving around.

Looks like somebody fixed a crack at some point. Don't know how that would happen. I wouldn't worry about it. You could always just replace the whole cam tower if it gives you trouble in the future. They're not that expensive (at least the last time I looked).
