$22,750, final hammer. Wow!
I'm a bit surprised, but I love that car and definitely saw the appeal. If only it was an airbag car..... it would be mine...

Why do you want an airbag car? The multi decade old explosives in the dash are of little appeal to me. I have gone as far as converting a prior car (88 951) to a 86 dash sans airbag.

Nice! If a converted N/A w/a sketchy past is worth that, have to believe mine is worth more : )

Agreed, pulled both of mine and put them into storage years ago. NFW I am going driving around w/a 32 year old bomb pointed at my face.

Let's just say I've had some not so pleasant experiences in these car, and while I know this was a side impact, a little cushioning would've been welcome, 30+ years old or not. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions regarding these cars, but this would've been a fair-weather daily for me and the extra layer of security is a welcome addition with all the crazy and unpredictable drivers in my area.

It was my first car, an 87' 924s built into a carrera gt replica. I bought the car from John Paterek who's big in the 356 and aircooled 911 restoration world. The car was a track day car when he bought it, and he did the gt conversion and painted it satin black for his son. The car was relatively stock mechanically when I bought it. I proceeded to buy full 951 suspension (upgraded a bit), brakes, etc. for the car. Then I stripped out the interior and did more of a clubsport look. GTS style console, carpeted center tunnel, 968 cabriolet rear seat delete, rsa style door cards, flocked dash, and more. Eventually I planned on swapping in a 951 or LS engine. When the accident happened, I was 5 minutes from the bodyshop where I was having a full respray done in Audi Nardo Grey. I had a protected left turn, Mazda suv went down the shoulder and around the cars turning left opposite me and well... the picture speaks for itself I think. After the initial collision, the car spun out and went tail first into the traffic light.

Ouch dude, glad you were ok from all that. Does sound like it was a nice car as well.

Yeah, I was lucky to escape with minor cuts and bruises. Very relieved I didn't have a passenger with me or the end result would have been much worse. While the car surely wasn't fast, I loved having it and wrenching on it. I'll build another one... One day

Couple more photos. Also, is it weird that the majority of pictures I have of my car are from the accident...

When I bought the car at age 13: (Don't worry, I lost weight and don't buzz my head anymore lol)

Fair enough, and I'm sorry that happened to you. I had my right femur shattered in a near head on and was cut out of a car once upon a time due to someone running a stop sign and I still wouldn't have stock airbags in my car. Certainly not trying to derail your thread, good luck in your search.
