I could have those easily reproduced, I have a bunch of similar stuff done now and then so it’s not a problem.

Does anyone know if they are die-stuck or zinc alloy and if die-struck what metal?

I would need to borrow one from someone in order to have an accurate die or mould made as appropriate, they usually charge me a $300 one-time fee for that but the actual pieces are pretty cheap to strike or cast. If I had 100 made probably be in the $15-$25 a piece price range depending on the material and process used.

Two issues I see stopping this ever happening:
  1. someone with a rare and quite expensive item will give it up to have many indistinguishable replicas made that will drive the rarity value way down; and
  2. The word “PORSCHE” is a protected trademark so Porsche could sue me.

I'm your Huckleberry. Mine wasn't expensive and I don't care about rarity. Lets feed the hungry masses.

Please don’t ask for items here, first there is nothing to buy yet and second I said I will start a new thread later when I have further details. I also have to get permission from the admins on Rennlist before I can do anything here.

Just my $0.02 but why would anyone be interested unless he has that 1988 particular Special Edition Model...original medallions are still out there, some cheap, some are asking ridiculous prices but they are available. I spent less than $100 for mine...

Because there are those of us out there who have that particular model without the original medallion. I've been looking for 3 years and haven't found one "cheap" at all. If you know of any for sale please let me know.

Ditto for me. I have the car in Zermatt silver but no medallion. I've been looking since I first saw the car, which was about two years before the owner finally decided to sell it to me. I keep hoping one will show up. Would agree that I wouldn't see much of a market for a re-pop except Celebration Edition car owners whose medallions have gone missing.

Bill, my coin will just end up in a box somewhere, my car is not 'deserving' of such a medal. Holytin is probably right, is it worth the investment to tool up for what is probably just a few buyers?
If MAG decides to not produce it, and lets me out of my verbal agreement I will sell you my coin. I presume your car is a concourse competitor?

Sure no problem, it’s your coin don’t let me hold you back from selling it
