Default 951 Brake Proportioning Valve

I have a brake proportioning valve on my ‘86 951. Slow leak but I noticed when I wiped down the body, the o-ring slid right out of where it is supposed to be. I thought maybe I could replace the o-ring but it doesn’t seem like anyone does this. Maybe go to a local oring manufacturer and have one made? Old posts say to just replace the whole valve at around $60-$100. The prices now around between $250-$300 on many websites. Has anyone replaced just the o-ring? I’ve also seen people replace the valve with an upgraded 33bar version compared to the 18 bar stock version also found for around the same high price. Paragon products has a valve under the 944 section for $210 but the part number is 965-355-305-01 and this seems to be a 60bar version from a 911. I spoke with them multiple times but never get a good answer from them, tell me they will get back to me but that never happens. Any input is greatly appreciated. I will also be taking this time to flush the brake fluid.

The 965 part number means that it comes from a 964 Turbo. They were built from around 1989 or 1990 until 1994. The 5/33 valve is from the 928. I know exactly what you mean by the O-ring just sliding down. I was going to try the 5/33 valve on my 951. This valve will have the rear calipers do more work than with the 951 bias valve. You ever notice how the front wheels get covered in brake dust and the rear wheels stay cleaner? That is exactly why I want to try the 5/33 valve. From first hand experience, the only 2 times that I hit something with my 951 were when I hit the brakes and all 4 wheels locked up and I had absolutely no steering abilities. ABS would be the best on any 944. You never want to have all 4 wheels lock up because you lose all control of the car. With ABS, you can slam the brakes and still attempt to steer toward the best area to hit if it is definitely going to be an impact or steer around the impact if you have room. Thanks, Kevin
