Question Door locks mystery

1989 s2, both doors unlock and lock with key from exterior; both doors will unlock when in the car and using interior switch. Both doors WILL NOT LOCK with interior switch, though it sounds as though something is trying to happen. If the dogbones where broken in the lock mechanism, why would the doors still UNLOCK with the interior switch?

Thanks

I had a similar problem several years ago. The door lock actuators in each door have a micro switch that senses whether the actuator is in the "lock" position or the "unlock" position. On my car the switch was not making consistent connection in one of the door actuators. Depending on your electrical troubleshooting prowess a multi meter can check continuity in each position.
