No, no, no, it’s a carry over from the early VW development of the 924 and put there to crush mpg figures when emissions testing by the EPA. The dealers were instructed to remove and discard it to release the beast. So basically, it’s the 80’s equivalent of the software solution VW tried a few years ago on their diesels.

LOL. Pain in the butt is what it was when I extended the driver's position rearward 3".
I always thought it was some type of throttle stop for not over camming the pedal, causing a dangerous "stuck open" situation, so I fabbed this extension for the stop.
