Default 951 gas pedal stop

What is this plastic screw behind my gas pedal on my 951? Is it like a safety thing or is it stopping me from having too much fun?

it's a stop to keep you from stretching your throttle cable when you hit the throttle stop on the throttle body.

ah, youve discovered porsche's secret sandbag technique to slow the 944 down behind the 911.

screw it down all the way and the last inch of throttle travel will unlock 150 HP.

the germans will not be pleased.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if taking this off will actually give me slightly more horsepower

No, no, no, it’s a carry over from the early VW development of the 924 and put there to crush mpg figures when emissions testing by the EPA. The dealers were instructed to remove and discard it to release the beast. So basically, it’s the 80’s equivalent of the software solution VW tried a few years ago on their diesels.

LOL. Pain in the butt is what it was when I extended the driver's position rearward 3".
I always thought it was some type of throttle stop for not over camming the pedal, causing a dangerous "stuck open" situation, so I fabbed this extension for the stop.
