You got a link to the site selling the rebuild kit?

My PS leaks like a bitch. It's got my sway bars all covered in PS fluid.

Rennbay.com has kits as well, but what sets him apart from the rest is the awesome write up on his website IMHO. Check it out.

Check to make sure it's not the lines or reservoir before you take it apart. If the seals are going you can often hear air in the system.

Just to get an word in here because I didn't announce it yet. My kits now come with the two plastic seal backings for both end seals. Most of the time the ones in your rack get messed up when you push them out to do the rebuild. If they get warped or cracked, then the rack is going to leak.

My kits are the ONLY ones available with these backings. They are not available separately unless you have purchased a kit in the past, in which case they are free.

GODDAMNIT!
lol
I broke those, but I ordered the 944 online kit, they then referred me to your installatio guide.
So I put it together without them, no leaks yet.
You are talking about the white plastic ring, right?

Yep. If you broke the flat one, its not as bad as the one with the rounded edge. If you do get a leak out of that side later down the line just email me. I will hook you up.

To those that have not yet done a rack and dont know the incredible advantage of getting those little plastic rings included in the kit, HAVING THEM IS LIKE THE FINDING THE HOLY GRAIL! I did not get his kit (should have) and spent easily an extra two hours just being careful not to wreck those plastic parts while getting the seals out because I didnt have anyhing to replace them with if I tore them up. Makes the kit worth the extra couple of dollars just because of those pieces. Oh and another thing I found out the hard way, if there is ANY pitting on the internal rack bar (main bar that the inner tie rod ends screw into) where the seals will be sliding past, get a different one because it WILL leak. I did mine twice because I took a chance.

I used Travis' kit, and it all looks good so far! When I pulled the old seals out the diminished size of the old seals was plainly evident. The new ones were great.

Like the idiot I am, I put it together 180 degrees off from center. The shop that did my alignment said I'd have to take it apart again, but I found it easier to pull the steering wheel off and reset that. Worked like a charm and drives just fine. (They had aligned it for me anyway, and I drove home with the steering wheel upside down. Made me feel like a total dumbass all the way home.)

FWIW, I'd recommend doing the pump at the same time as the rack. The pump kit is super cheap ($18) and really easy to do. If you've already got the system open to do the rack, do the pump. I replaced the reservoir too, since it has a non-replaceable filter in it. I figured I'd do all of it at once. I've never seen p/s fluid flow as strongly in a 944 as it does in mine now.

It's really nice to back out of the driveway and not hear a groan from the p/s pump.

I'm about to do my pump and rack. I will be picking up the Rennbay kit for sure.
