Question Headlight bulb question

Ok this isnt for my 944 but it could be in the future i guess.
I just adjusted my headlights in my GTI and its much better now (i couldnt see crap cause the dealership adjusted them virtually pointed down). I was wondering, are the Sylvania Silver Stars any good? The halogen H7 bulbs. Not the tacky blue ones. Anyone have any experience with good bulb companies? I dont know what H4 bulbs i have in the S2 because i havent had to change them yet. Curious as to who makes good bulbs. Any opinions?

I was going to run the silverstars in my GLI before I stumbled into some HIDs (euro spec dual round grille). A friend of mine has them installed on his Cherokee (with relayed wiring) and is really happy with them. He prefers them over PIAAs that cost twice as much. They do seem a little bit brighter, but the biggest difference is in the contrast. Objects just pop out more. Street signs reflect much better too.

The Sylvania SilverStar headlight bulbs really are sort of "blue color" bulbs. Just look at them. And they are pretty expensive, even on sale at the discounters.

If you want a legal H4 55/60 watt beam pattern in that manufacturing line I would go with their parent's, Osram, European BiLux bulb. I don't know all the politics but I think Osram won't let Sylvania build those bulbs yet. One reason Sylvania is on the crazy marketing blitz of SilverStars in North America.

I can get the Osram BiLux bulbs for $18 each, they are a bit over $25 each in Europe right now. They are actually clear, not blue filtered, and quite the hot selling item in Europe. I have another guy that wants some more BiLux bulbs and If I get enough orders to buy 10 bulbs I'll put in another order for you folks.

Good bulb companies are Philips/Narva and Osram/Sylvania. But even they can put out questionable bulbs in some areas.

I don't think I can help you on the H7s as I don't have enough demand for them to justify an order.

I've got Bosch H4's. They work. Really well.

gleaming, are you talking about Bosch headlight lenses or H4 bulbs? This thread is about bulbs just to keep things straight. It is my understanding that Bosch doesn't make H4 bulbs anymore and they are outsourced if they have the Bosch trademark on them. So who knows who is making those bulbs at any given moment. Probably best to stear clear of them and go with a real manufacturer you know and trust.
