I am looking for coil over shocks in the same price range or less than the KLH Industries for my 86 951.

Not sure how many more people make stuff applicable to 944's. I know the Koni setup is a lot more expensive.

I will give Dave or Mike a call tomorrow and see what they can do for me. The KLH coils are only $539 for the pair though. I will see if the Lindsey bros have any slightly used or smoking deals not listed in the web site.

 

Lindsey's Bilstein setup is head and shoulders above the KLA setup, tough to compare them. I know Carrera has a rear coilover for our cars since I'm trying to sell an old set, and for front it's popular to run a Koni strut with GC coilover sleeves.

Do people mix-and-match shock brands front to back?

 

I would mix them if I could find a used set. I just have a little sag in the rear tortion bars and want to remove the "see saw" action every time I shift.

 

Ledas are an option- the non-adjustable ones are ~$1200 total- this is w/new springs & perches & rear shocks too... JUST the front struts w/out perches or spings, etc, would, of course, be much cheaper... A big second recommendation for Ledas from Racer's Edge. Not only are they inexpensive but the combination of ride and handling surpasses the expensive H&R's I bought for my M3. Go figure.

 

Dont leave out John Hajny from Redline Rennsport, hes an awesome guy to deal with and he sells/runs Ledas. Thats where Im headed once the engine is sorted.

 

you can get a set of bilstein non adjustable 5" stroke shocks for about 110.00 each then you will need rear adapter which I have a set for 50.00 then
1 coilover kit for 24.00 and then some springs for 100.00 so you would be at

About 290.00.........

 

Sorry I have rebuilt a bunch of ledas and they have **** rods and junk seals

Maybe they will last on a street car or a track car that does not hit curbs.....

rally car destroy the stuff...... I would buy a bilstein any day over a leda.....

But on the other had there dyno numbers dont look that bad...

I'm running QA1 (hal) shocks coilovers in the back...basically the setups that huntley was selling less the sticker. I'm gonna try going to them to get my front set up....if i do have to mix and match i'll probably run ledas up front. if you find what setup they were using for the front (compared to HR stage II) email them part numbers (i have really been wanting to research this but its been put on the backburner.)

Try Drummond shocks, their website is www.dmshocks.com, not sure of their price in the US as everything seems more competitively priced once it gets there. I run the 50mm ones in one of my cars and are very happy with them

 

Dave, unless you're bent on getting coil-overs, there may be other options. Not sure what you already have, but good shocks will go a long way in reducing that seesaw action. Take-off butt-drag can also be reduced through use of a larger rear sway bar. Though, nothing affects it more than the spring rate. Good shocks will limit the speed of compression ideally enough to produce a much smoother launch.

If you do decide on coil-overs, we've just received a shipment of Koni Turbo Cup-like height-adjustable LP-gas coil-overs that will create a much more affordable sport setup for the rear compared to our other offerings of the 3012 and 2812. Pricing hasn't been set yet, but should be this week.
