Default Fun Weekend at Barber MSP

I made the long tow from NC to Barber MSP in Birmingham AL for a Rezoom DE. What a great track for the 944. Lot's of fun technical turns. Short straights. I wish I could go there more often but it is a bit of slog to get there, having to go thru Atlanta. I sort of brought a knife to a gunfight, as Rezoom attracts a lot of the latest equipment from Porsche, Ford, Chevy, etc. My car, with a Paragon 944 Spec suspension and weight loss, can hang pretty well with the newer equipment in the corners. But of course they gap me pretty quickly on the straights. Interesting to me was the Corvette Z06 guy I was parked next to that said he was burning a 1/2 a tank of fuel in each 30 minute session. Puts my 15 gallons for the weekend in a nice perspective. I had loads of fun. If you can get there some time, do it.

Sounds like a great weekend! He is probably also going thru tires faster than you are as well as the extra fuel.

Awesome! Can't wait to get mine back on the track. And thanks for all your great 944 info on your website and Youtube. Very helpful and inspiring!

Thanks for the complement. Now that I think of it, this is the first time since my engine rebuild that I've really hammered it for extended periods of time. Barber was pretty much a 3rd and 4th gear track with lots of shifts from 3rd to 4th at or near redline. The engine held up fine. Knock on wood!!!

And my newly rebuilt transaxle by Catellus Engineering was smooth as butter.

I was at Barber 2 weeks ago (in a miata) - I absolutely loved it! I look forward to going back someday.

Great to hear of the fun you had. I will be at Cresson MSR in TX in 2 weeks. I may be slower than a lot of the other cars, but I am having a blast every minute I am on the track.

I second the "thanks" for your helpful posts!

Had been there a couple times supporting another driver I used to travel with.
On one of those occasions, my son Eon got to do the lunch laps in an S2 street car that we road tripped up in.
That was '07.

11 years later, 2018, first time back, this time actually supporting my son and his own race car.
Other than those lunch laps 11 years prior, never turned a wheel there.
Won one sprint and enduro (punted from pole at start of 2nd sprint) and smashed SP2 record, formerly held by former PCA SP2 2013 champ Mitch Richard by 1 second.

18:17 into video is (was) lap record of 1.46.347, he took another .028 off that in enduro in compromised car from Sprint 2 crash.
