what up Guys,
This is yet another problem I have with my old 944t,,
On cold starts I leave my car up to warm up and all the time it leaves a excessive black stain on driveway that seems to spray out of the exhaust.
Every since I had my 944 fixed from bent valves it started to do this, I am assuming its gas spraying out of the exhaust. Also if pops and knocks when I finish driving it before the tear down it did not.
On another note--- when I was tearing down the engine to get to the head I accidently damaged one of the fuel injectors, the pin in center of the cap on the injector broke off.
heres my questions...
1. What can the black spray from exhaust be>? and possible why's?
2. Can the damage fuel injector be related?
3. Can the knocking and popping be related?
I know its a tall order thanks again guys,
Fred

That is the problem. The little pin is what turns off the flow from the fuel injector. You're basically running that one fuel injector full open all the time. You're also washing down all the protective lubricating oil off that one cylinder. Get that replaced ASAP! Can anyone say scuffed cylinder walls?

This is my first car I am 21 and since I bought it 7 months ago I had never even done a oil change before. I am learning and trying, although I did tear the engine down to take the head to a machine shop, I learn that much off the repair manuals and by just getting my hands dirty...............I guess that why im having problems right now because I know very little.

No problem.
If you're pouring fuel into a cylinder it washes the oil off the walls and it wears very quickly. One solution is a new block.
First step is to check your compression, maybe get your bore inspected by someone who has one of those fiber optic thingies.
Hopefully, it's something else.

Ok, so I mis-read.
Still, get the injector replaced. After that we can troubleshoot more, to see if any damage has occured.
