Newbie introduction
Aloha everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself as I have been lurking for about a month or so, but finally got my long-awaited "new-to-me" 951.
Car is an 89' 951 with 76K miles and the Koni M030 suspension. The intake is extrude honed, and the car is chipped, but that is pretty much the extent of the mods as far as I know. The car has just had its belts and hoses changed and I have all the records for service the car has had since coming off warranty. The former owner is a part-time mechanic and a good friend of mine. I got a great deal on the car too...I think my buddy just wanted me to have it, because he knew I'd give it a good home. $9500. This is my first P-car and my first Turbo car, but I am a pretty capable DIYer and no stranger to German cars. I am the President of the Hawaii chapter of the BMWCCA and also own a 99' MCoupe and a 88' M3. This car is truly a beast on the highway...doesn't feel like much from a stoplight, but after that it just takes flight!
Car doesn't need much but I do need to fix a broken seam in the driver seat, and need to replace or recover the steering wheel leather. Maybe a nice new shifter ****/boot would be nice as well.
I look forward to reading all the tech/maintinence tips and getting to know you guys on this board. If any of you are ever down my way, the BMWCCA of Hawaii runs track events in April and September. We would be glad to have you

Welcome!
Congrats on the awesome car. As far as your hunt for a shift boot goes, try Rennbay. http://www.rennbay.com/shiftboot.html

Love M coupe, car that would end my marriage, I have been barred from buying one!
I am a member at bimmerforums but rarely post there. I could use and intake boot for my 540 if you know anyone with one!
