It looks like the line is threaded onto the FPR. That does not seem right. Am I seeing this wrong?

Zero,

The red collar securing the line to the FPR is a dressed up hose clamp - like many of the kits on the market use.

You can see from the pics that the fittings in the wheel well are 2 different colors - red & yellow. The metric fitting on the damper comes with a yellow compression collar, and luckily, the collars of the AN fittings were interchangable with the metric fitting. Since I could not source a yellow dressed up hose clamp, I swapped the collars so that I could have matching red peices for a cleaner look.

Hope this helps

I have no intention of changing my fuel lines, im broke as is. I am wondering however, will these kits work with the older styled 924S and 944 fuel lines? While the newer style come from the fenders, the older style have them coming right over the intake manifold (i would say this isnt the best routing for them...).

Yes i know its a mess underthere, my summer project is to clean everything up the best i can. And i know the strut brace is on the wrong side of the mounts, i didnt realize that until after i took the picture .

Techno,

Unfortunately, the kit will only work on 944/951 cars with lines coming from wheel well.

I believe it is applicable for 944 n/a cars 85.5 and newer and all 951 cars.

Thx,

Vic

Vic,

I think that would only be due to hose length. Other than that all the fittings should be the same.

I am interested in what you have put together there in the picture where the hose connects to the hard line. I see reusable hose ends, likely AN sized, and some sort of steel hard line adaptor. Is there any tube flaring involved in that connection? You're not screwing a 37 degree fitting onto a 45 degree fitting there are you?

Michael,

The fittings in the wheel well that connect to the hard lines are compression adapters. The hard lines are not flared to install these adapters. They use a compression ferrule and "B" nut to establish the seal. The opposite end of the adapters accept AN style 37 deg fittings.

Yes, all the hose end fittings are reusable which is nice feature in the remote chance of a future leak. The only piece that would require replacement is the section of hose in question. No further need to buy a complete replacement set again!

techno - it seems to me that the early style fuel lines last much longer than the late, as actually they are positioned BETTER. they are away from the EXHAUST and most of the heat associated with that. that being said it'd still be a good idea to check them regularly (every oil change or so) for cracks and whatnot.
