Z-MAN how do you like the new models from porsche, i was thinking of getting that collection for my self.I was really hoping that they come out with a 1/18th 944, but well see.and UDPRIDE you said you didn't like some of those great car that are not porsche's, you can just send them to me and i will put them on a shelf where they will be very, very happy!!!!

I have a really small collection of assorted cars of assorted sizes. I really don't want to bother with anything other than 1:18, but good 1:18 cost $$$. I'll post a pic of what I have in a little bit.

Here's all I have, except a Boxster that I've had for years that is kinda falling apart. Hotwheels GT3, Miasto Boxster, ??? 996 C2, UT Models 993 GT1, and a metal Ford GT:

I think my best one is the Ford GT. I'm guessing it's pretty rare, since it was given out by one of the head engineers, and only to a limited number of people at the meeting because he could only get about 50 or so. It's made from extruded aluminum, and is the right proportions/ profile for the car.

Edit: Whoa, I resized those pics in PS and they still turned out huge!

So can anyone recommend some nice companies for 1:18's?

The best: Exoto
Close seconds: Minichamps, Autoart, Carousel1
Seconds, just not as close: UT Models
The rest: Maisto, Bburago, Eagle's Race/Universal Hobbies, Hot Wheels, etc...

This is for 1/18 only though, there are tons of excellent 1/43 model producers out there like Minichamps, Vitesse, Jouef, Schuco, Eagle's Race/Universal Hobbies, etc, etc...

I agree completely. I think the best bang for buck are Autoarts and Minichamps. Depends which ones you get though. Some of the older Autoarts I have are not much better than Maistos. I find Autoart's plain repos of stock cars to not be as good as their work on race cars that require more detail, decals, paint, and interior work. Ive got a few Exotos. You have to look real close to find where the extra $100 is going. When you do though you say "how in the hell did they do that."

I'm jealous. Do any of you guys actually have time to hold jobs, have a family, etc...

When I get around to finishing up the basement, I'll reserve one complete wall to set up my own collection. In the meantime, I'll settle for the vicarious experience of looking at your collections.
