Steering Wheel with Porsche Logo
I was at the Bonham's auction in Scottsdale earlier this month and saw a steering wheel on a 911 that had a Porsche logo on the center horn pad.
Anyone know where such a pad either new or used can be purchased?

I have never seen one before.
Do you think it's possible that the horn pad may be a custom 'recover' in leather by a specialty maker ?
Every Porsche pad I have seen has had either a Porsche model designation impressed in it ( 928, 959, etc.), or the word Porsche embossed in the leather or vinyl. Some of the early 3 spokes thru 911 and 944 range had a large imprint of the shield. But not an actual Porsche cloissone' shield inset in the hub center.
( by the way this is the sometimes optional leather wrapped 4 spoke Sport steering wheel shown, and was an extra cost upgrade on many models in certain years. On the later, series 2 cars they were standard issue and the three spoke wheel seems to have gone away. )

Might be the same car, but it just sold again. More pics of the wheel though. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ign=2019-01-22

Strange. I think the one at Bonhams was black if I remember correctly. The description of this one said it was purchased by the current owner from a museum 1.5 years ago.
I wonder if this was a rather rare option on the 911 that was never given to the 944...

Genuine part. It was available from Exclusive, starting sometime in calendar year 1988/9. I think by '92 it was no longer available on a new car. It probably remained available as an official accessory for a short while afterwards.
That version could be had with the crest painted gold, silver, colored, or just embossed.
The option code for the one pictured should be XJ1. I don't know the part number. I've seen pictures of it factory-equipped on two 944s.
The 924/44/68 were privilege to all the Special Wishes / Exclusive wheels available for their respective year. At least five Exclusive wheels were available through the years the models cover (not all at the same time).
Porsche Classic might be able to source one for you new. I've seen them available used; try Pelican and eBay Kleinanziegen and various European eBays.

To be pedantic, Special Wishes did not offer this wheel. A little while after the department was renamed to Exclusive, this wheel was available.
Here is a picture from the Exclusive brochure. Note that the crest is all gold - option code for this one should be XH7.
Note the factory-fitted wood trim as well.

Any idea what the photo depicts in the one with the series one center gauge and console ?
Is it a leather wrapped binnacle ? ( beside the aforementioned steering wheel )

I think the center console was offered with a brushed aluminum trim or leather, I think you can just make out the aluminum in the picture.

The console shown is upholstered in leather. I think it has just standard plastic inlays. Option code for the early leather console is SOW- / EXC- 406. Included a leather switch bezel if I understand it correctly. I don't know if it received a newer X-- code when they redid all the codes in 88/89.
I don't have a comprehensive list of all the options ever offered, but for the early console I only see an option for rootwood inlays in light or dark. It included the gauge surround, HVAC control surround, and with or without shift surround.

I have one of these Steering Wheels in my 1988 924S. One of the options in the 1988 Porsche Exclusiv Catalogue ( the wooden kit I have is one of the others) - Various color crests available as well as a smaller one
