How many in Summer Yellow?

How many in Summer Yellow?
Hello all,
I'm the proud owner of a 1987 924S. I've had it for a few years, somehow bought extremely cheap and I'm now in the process of a very slow restoration. I really wished Porsche charged a little less for their parts!
I bought the car as I've had an affinity with these cars from childhood. I was extremely fortunate to buy it MOT'd for only £500, but what drew me was the colour!
It was painted from the factory in LM1A Summer yellow, I've tirelessly tried to find another 924S painted in this colour, and failed! The only other cars I have seen were a 87 944 Turbo and 968 with PTS.
Just how many did they produce in LM1A, I know it was 87 only, was it that unpopular, so much so they dropped it for the next year? Being RHD it should make the number very small. I'm hoping someone may know, or will it necessitate an email to Porsche?
Thank you in advance.

I've not seen any Porsche that color in the States so I'm sure the number is quite small. Good color for the 924S, I especially like the "S" pinstripe down the side, that's a nice touch.

From what I have read is Porsche did not keep track in good record of each color sold. So it sounds like a dead end when it comes to them. They can confirm if you gave them the Vin# on a particular Porsche as to what color the car was built with new. Sooooooo we here on Rennlist will have to be the ones to keep track of who has one. I personally will be selling my 1987 911 Cab soon here is a few pic I have posted. Very few of these 911 were ordered in this color. As we know most where Guards red in the 1986 >1989 years.
Mahogany Brown Belt interior was factory as was the 15" 7 & 8" Color keyed Fuchs from what I see on sticker in engine bay with tire size. Crazy odd combo but it works. 110k ,miles and is Matching #s

Crazy odd combo, I agree with you there @1970six, but you're right, it does work. That wouldn't have been my choice had I ordered the car new, but it's definitely a unique color combo and it does actually look really attractive. The color matched Fuchs sell the combo for me, it would look completely different without them. @JB924S, Summer Yellow phonies?! But seriously, very nice 924S example and you can't beat the 500 quid price tag!

Agree, love the color. With a sympathetic restoration, I would start by losing the aftermarket front spoiler that was tacked on, as well as the rear mud flaps.

I only know of 2 in the US. Both are 87 NA's. One is owned by an older gentleman in Lincoln, Nebraska who regularly shows it at local PCA events. It's immaculate and IIRC, has less than 30K miles on it. The other was for sale on the local craigslist (Omaha, Nebraska) that was beat. The interior was destroyed, rust all over the bottom of the car and every panel was dented. It sold as a parts car for less than $1K maybe 5 or 6 years ago. I'm sure it's long gone by now.

Very nice 924S!
I would like to replicate that sticker on the side, would you be able to take a photo framing that S straight from the side? and maybe measure how tall the S is from bottom to top edge?
